Profiling Cop-Killers

I'm pleased to share that criminal justice publisher Taylor and Francis/CRC Press has decided to publish my upcoming book on cop-killers.  This book offers no apologies for the acts of those involved in the murders of police officers. Profiling Cop-Killers explores the similarities and differences between those who commit murders of police officers using firearms.

You should know I am not an academic, professor or armchair criminologist; I am just a former cop who worked the streets and arrested both violent and compliant people just like many of my readers.  I am not special in some way, nor was I the best cop in my department or on my watch during my ten years of service.  The only real difference between you and me is that I have researched nearly one thousand written accounts of police officers' deaths due to firearms written in the past two years.  I have personally interviewed multiple officers who were present as witnesses to a line-of-duty death.  And, I have a deep and passionate desire to tell others what I have learned from these accounts-- about the offenders, the officers and the circumstances of these deadly force encounters.

Profiling Cop-Killers is written for the lay reader, police officers, psychologists, social workers and general public.  However, no knowledge of or experience in police practice is needed to understand the work.  If you have an interest in who cop-killers are and what motivates them, this book is for you.  Look for it later this year.

***Note: my law enforcement readers will also benefit from the new edition on line-of-duty deaths.  Officer Down 2013 will be released May 1, 2013.  You can pre-order it now to ship as soon as it becomes available.
