I am pleased to announced another session of Officer Down 2012 has been scheduled for September in Fredericksburg, VA. Many thanks to Tom Einwechter and David Vice at the Rappahannock Regional Criminal Justice Academy (RRCJA) for making this event possible. This is a large venue with 120 seats, so I am looking forward to a nice turnout.
Within the past week, I have also been involved in some interesting discussions on LinkedIn. Like many cops, I was initially resistant to getting involved in any kind of online networking site. However, I am learning that collaboration, even when people disagree vehemently, is a superior method of learning in the digital age. By collaboration, I mean exploring ideas, stories in the media, and conjectures openly via a discussion thread. Some interactions need to be taken off-line in private email, but all in all, it is a new experience for me.
What experiences have you had in social networking as a law enforcement officer? Is it a good thing for us or not?
