Officer Down 2012 Seminar:
Lessons Learned From Line-of-Duty Deaths

Picture
What can be learned from officers who were killed in the line of duty in the past year?  Do you know their stories?

Spend a day examining the lessons learned from recent line-of-duty deaths due to gunfire-related incidents in 2011.  The presenter has done the research to identify the commonalities of these 50+ incidents.  At the end of the course, attendees will better understand the trends in violent encounters between suspects and officers and the confluence of deadly circumstances and behaviors that have led to the most recent police officer casualties.

Hear their stories.  Understand the reasons.  Train to survive critical incidents.

Officer Down 2012 examines the human factors involved in officer deaths from the perspective that mistakes were not necessarily made by fallen officers, but the lessons to be learned from the loss of police officers are many.  Going beyond the timeless concepts of “tombstone courage” and “don’t rush in,” attendees will analyze actions taken by suspects and officers in depth to better prepare themselves to avoid, or at least survive a critical incident.

The seminar is designed to compress the lessons contained in the book, Officer Down 2012 into an 8-hour training session.***Attendees will receive a student resource guide to address the 2011 incidents in their own training programs and departmental policies. ***
